New admin required
Hi,
Tuperee and I have been kiting on Belhaven beach for a number of years and this website was set-up as a means to communicate with all (mainly) power kiters.
We are however not very active any more. Tuperee is working at Tiso and has little time for kiting and I am currently concentrating on my hill walking.
So, if are looking for a buggy and kites then add a message on this website.
I am also looking for someone to take over the management of the website. It means that I will give you admin access so that you can administer the website. The hosting, domain name etc can remain as it is now.
If you are interested then please add a message to this website to let me know.
Hope we can grow this website with somebody else on the helm!!
Received the following from a member of the ELC CountrySide department in reply to my email expressing my concern and surprise that the Belhaven Beach Users Group was not informed nor asked for their opinions:
East Lothian Council is intending to levy all year round charges at its 13 beach car parks across the county. This is proposed to come into force in June 2007. The implementation of these charges will discourage people from East Lothian and beyond from enjoying this wonderful natural asset and will most penalise those who cannot afford the charges.
East Lothian Council actively encourages the community to take part in healthy, outdoors activities. These charges directly penalise those who wish to participate in these.

Belhaven Bay within the John Muir Country park has seen major increases in the amount of people using it for all sorts of recreational activities such as surfing, horse riding and angling to dog walkers. It is also particularly popular with Kite surfers, Power kiters and Blowkart enthusiasts.
A record-breaking wave of prestigious Seaside Award beaches were announced today, Friday 2 June, by awarding body Keep Scotland Beautiful (KSB).
Among the winners were seven East Lothian gems, including Gullane Bents which has been an award winner since 1993. Forty-five beaches (five up on last year) gained the Scottish Seaside Award status for their cleanliness, quality of facilities and excellent management while eight Scottish beaches and one marina were awarded the coveted international Blue Flag quality mark (an increase of two from 2005).
After the success of the first competition day at St. Andrews and the second day at Stevenston current comments and interest looks like the third event, which will be held at Stevenston on the 4th of June, will be promising with a number of participants interested in attending from further away in Ireland and England.
We hope to have at least the same number of Buggy races for licenced pilots as we did at the last two competition days. We will also attempt to run Buggy Freestyle and Board Freestyle aspects of the Competition day as long as we get reasonable pre registration numbers. Therefore we ask that all those interested in competing Pre-register as soon as possible.
Fees for the day will be the usual £5 entry fee (to cover prizes etc.). For this cost you can enter 1, 2 or all 3 of the aspects on the day. Costs for non SPKA Members may be higher, although membership will be available on the day.
I haver added a "suggestions" panel to the side, where members can add their suggestions. You can find it in the left Navigation panel.
Please add any suggestions you can think of to improve the site. This section of the site allows us to see all suggestions and their progress of being implemented.
